About Us
"An Afternoon with Tayo Aluko and Friends" was the title of a successful concert featuring music, poetry and dance, presented at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall in September 2003, raising funds for African and African-centred charities.
Since then, several other events have been produced under the banner of what has become a charitable company.
The company stages performing arts events which promote Africa, African artists and African descendants in a more positive light than the mainstream media typically presents.
These have included readings of Call Mr. Robeson, singing concerts and the production of six 15-minute plays by emerging Black writers about ancient Africa, under the collective name "The Amber Chronicles".
These were performed at Unity Theatre Liverpool and Zion Arts Centre Manchester in October 2006.
The series is planned to become an annual, nationwide event aimed at schools, colleges and theatres, and is expected to contribute to the fight against racism and to counter poor self-esteem among young black people by rediscovering African history prior to the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
